Symposium and B2B meetings on Sustainable Building and Renovating
As a part of the „Energy Efficiency Export Initiative" established by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the ECOFYS Germany GmbH and Eclareon GmbH, organized a delegation of selected German companies to the three Baltic States Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The delegation - the second of this kind organized by the German-Baltic Chamber regarding energy efficiency - visited the Baltics from 3rd to 7th May 2009. The tour to the Baltic countries focused on establishing new business contacts and giving assistance for export activities between German and Baltic companies.

The prelude and the key element of the visit was a symposium on „Energy Efficiency in the Real Estate Sector - Sustainable Building and Renovating" which took place on the 4th of May in Vilnius. Almost 120 company representatives attended this event in order to learn more about the latest developments, projects and technologies on energy efficiency in the estate market. The participants included architecture offices, plumbers, building contractors, engineers and other enterprises and institutions with a focus on the energy efficiency sector. Local experts used the symposium as a platform to brief the attendants about the legal framework and the energy politics of the three Baltic States while German experts presented new general developments in the sector and their latest products and services. Especially the long-term experience of German companies in the area of modernizing apartment buildings provided a good basis for vital discussions between German and Baltic attendants.

After the symposium the German companies used the opportunity to meet with new potential clients in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The business meetings had been prearranged by the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce and the companies were assisted by Chamber staff.
