New energy storage projects intended to help increase grid reliability and efficiency have been announced by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Ontario's grid operator. At the same time, the projects are meant to maximize the output from wind and solar power.
In Nova Scotia, the partners in four community-based wind projects were able to secure $57 million in financing for their projects. On Thursday, one of developer juwi Wind Canada's officials emphasized the advantages of having joint financing for the 24 megawatts in the four projects, each of which belongs to a different owner. At the same time, the projects take advantage from co-working on construction and equipment, Ilan Caplan said.
