A series of projects were approved under the Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program allowing to power about 15,000 homes by new renewable energy in the coming years. 500 renewable energy contracts, most of which are solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, are offered by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) under the third installation of the FIT program.

Ontario's Grid expecting Energy Storage Projects

New energy storage projects intended to help increase grid reliability and efficiency have been announced by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Ontario's grid operator. At the same time, the projects are meant to maximize the output from wind and solar power.

First precious metals recycling plant planned in Quebec

Green technology company NovX21 Inc. and the City of Thetford Mines have agreed on setting up Quebec's first precious metals recycling plant. The focus of the new plant, which will be built in an existing industrial park, will be on recovering precious platinum-group metals (PGMs) from end-of-life vehicles.

Electric and hybrid cars form the majority of Canada's most fuel efficient cars

Among the 16 cars Natural Resources Canada identified as the most fuel-efficient in 2014, twelve were electric and hybrid vehicles. The cars were driven 20,000 km as expected by NRC (55% city, 45% highway).
