What was once a single engineering office has developed into an entire network within only a few years. Today, a total of 22 engineering offices work internationally under the umbrella of the 8.2 Group, carrying out technical examinations of renewable energy technologies in Wind, PV, CMS, Biogas and Electrical Grids / Grid Integration and offering comprehensive consulting services.
The 8.2 success story began in October 1995 when Manfred Lührs started the first engineering office in Süderdeich. In 2006, the 8.2 Consulting AG was founded in order to take on large Offshore projects and engage in business development in the international renewable energy environment.
Since then, the 8.2 group has been growing steadily in the national as well as international area. Today, with more than 18,000 technical tests, over 3,000 MW Due Diligence worldwide, and 22 independent locations, the 8.2 group is one of the leading specialists in the various fields of sustainable energy. 150 experts handle a total of 5,000 clients from more than 39 countries. Furthermore, right from the beginning 8.2 has been working Offshore and is involved in nearly all German Offshore projects in various fields.
Apart from technical tests of photovoltaic, wind power, and bioenergy installations, the multifaceted spectrum of services offers comprehensive consulting services along the project management lifecycle. The 8.2 team includes specialists from various fields, as for example turbine technologies, design review, damage analysis, fibreglass-reinforced composites, vibration analysis, video endoscopy, condition monitoring services (CMS) and monitoring software, performance analysis, blade checking through rope access techniques and foundation monitoring.
One of the aims of the 8.2 team is to work with the client in order to enhance the reliability and in-service time of renewable energy technologies and to optimize operating results and yield. The service spectrum ranges from the initial Due Diligence investigations, providing further consultations and accompanying the whole construction and installation phase, up to the planning for dismantling of the systems or their repowering at the end of their operating life. 8.2 bundles know-how in system construction, planning, accompanying quality control of the production, installation and respective sale, as well as in long term monitoring throughout the entire life cycle.
Knowledge management pays off
The close cooperation and the regular exchange of experience and information between the individual 8.2 offices enable a continuous transfer of knowledge. For example, every 8.2 specialist can refresh or deepen his skills and competence through courses, trainings and workshops at the 8.2 Academy. To this effect, the 8.2 Academy develops tailored courses, seminars and discussion forums about current and future themes. Furthermore, job-relevant soft skills are identified and enhanced for each 8.2 specialist.
Through their participation in panels, committees, advisory boards and quality initiatives, the 8.2 specialists are always up-to-date with the latest technology and use their practical experience to actively participate in the development of norms, principles and testing methods.
