Among the 16 cars Natural Resources Canada identified as the most fuel-efficient in 2014, twelve were electric and hybrid vehicles. The cars were driven 20,000 km as expected by NRC (55% city, 45% highway).

Five Ontario projects under Sustainable Development Technology Canada's SD Tech Fund will receive almost $10 million in new investments, according to Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, the Honourable Greg Rickford, and the Chair of Sustainable Development Technology Canada, Jim Balsillie.
A $36.8 million deal was signed by the owners of a waste-to-energy plant in the Port of Hamilton, Ontario, enabling them to use technology from Advanced Plasma Power (APP), a fuel energy company based in the UK.
