The Ministry of Energy and Electricity has finalized a project to light two villages in Siwa through solar cells systems, funded by the Italian Government with a total cost of 3 million EGP.
The project has been submitted to Matrouh Governorate and includes lighting 100 houses, 3 mosques and 2 medical units in Ein El Zahra and Om El Sagheer villages.
This was announced by H.E. Dr. Hassan Younes during the meeting held with the Board of Directors of New and Renewable Energy Authority, headed by Eng. Laila Georgy, acting Chairman of NREA as they discussed NREA’s new projects and activating the renewable energy fund that has been adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Dr. Younis confirmed the completion of the preparation of the first Egyptian solar energy plan until 2027, in a belief in the renewable energy’s vital role it plays and especially the solar energy, this plan aims to add additional solar energy capacity up to 3500 megawatt that produces 14 billion kilowatt hours annually.
