The indian district Gurgaon starts to build green townships. Builders are increasingly focusing on green development projects.
For such projects the builders get approval from the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). Some projects are launched in and around Gurgaon already. For instance the Esencia Township is now registered as a pilot project and should be developed in a green township.
Ansal API, the company which launches the project, is supported by the Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitats (ADARSH) which is contituted by the Ministry of New and Rewewable Energy (MNRE), and The Energy and Research Institute (TERI), which is responsible for the implementation of GRIHA.
Firstly, Ecensia will be developed over about 140 acres, afterwards 88 acres will be added. The buildings in the township will have only two floors, plus one ground floor. The aim is to create a green sustainable township where little maintanance is needed. Vegetation within the township will be carefully selected. The whole theme of this project is simply green development.
Air pollution and noise should be not existing in the green township. To maintain the vegetation the builders get the technical assistance of HOK and HBA from Singapore, the Green Architects and PIA from Thailand and the RKA from India.
The green township is established ecofriendly. Every building will be close to a green area. In this sense green townships are a way to promote a healthier way of life.
