The Institute for Sustainable Energy focuses on matters relating to energy education, energy policy, energy efficiency, energy conservation and load management, renewable energy, distributed generation, protection of environmental resources, and the dissemination of useful information on energy alternatives and sustainability to users and providers of energy. The Institute adds an unbiased focus on practical applications and dissemination of information about how to improve the energy profile and sustainability of Connecticut and the region.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) collects, analyzes, and disseminates independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.
In the past year, the DOE has significantly expanded the amount of information available online about programs, funding awards, and progress, as well as valuable data about energy production and consumption and trends within the energy industry. The DOE has also used social media outlets such as YouTube and my personal Facebook page to engage the public directly and expand the national conversation on energy.
