Chandigarh -- Haryana has a potential for generation of about 1000 MW power from surplus agriculture biomass and the state government is making all out efforts for tapping this potential, Haryana Renewable Energy and Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha said today.
Mr Chattha was speaking at a state level function organised on the occasion of the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas by the Department of Renewable Energy and Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency here today.
Paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he said that in consonance with the ideals of this leader, the state government had announced an investor friendly Renewable Energy Power Policy with a view to encouraging private sector participation in power generation from renewable energy sources.
He said that under this policy, many incentives were being given to the power project developers as a result of which, the state had about 150 MW installed capacity of renewable energy power generation.
Mr Chattha called upon the people of the state to use natural resources judiciously for the sake of the future generations.
