British Petroleum has voiced readiness to take part in the construction of the India-Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline in the Pakistani territory. A senior BP official has noted that it is ready to participate in laying the gas pipeline across the Pakistani territory under the Iran-Pakistan-India project. He said that Pakistan would lay the pipeline in its territory and may decide to award a contract to oil companies. All international oil and gas companies would be invited to carry out the gas pipeline in Pakistan, he added. “Pakistan may float a tender to award a contract after completion of the feasibility study of the project,” the official said. He noted that the president of the British Petroleum Company, UK, Tariq Khamisani, had called on Pakistan’s caretaker petroleum minister, Ahsanullah Khan, and discussed matters relating to promoting Pak-BP cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including the laying of the gas pipeline for the "Peace Pipeline". Pakistan has contacted many other oil and gas companies to award the contract of laying the gas pipeline in Pakistani territory but they are seeking guarantee for security from the government of Pakistan, said the official.
