Delegation of procurement managers from Baltic companies visits Germany

Within the program „Export Initiative Renewable Energies" established by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce (AHK Baltic States) organized a visit of procurement managers from Baltic companies to Germany.

From the 19th to the 23rd of April 2009 a total of 25 representatives of different companies, organizations and institutions from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania visited Germany in order to learn more about the latest processes and products in the German bioenergy sector. This second delegation, after a first one in 2008, once again demonstrated the high interest and demand for information about alternative energy production among companies in the three Baltic States.

In cooperation with the Zenit Gmbh the German-Baltic Chamber organized a widespread program for the three day tour to Germany. Besides informative meetings and practical presentations concerning the energy production of biogas and biomass, the participants inspected several production facilities working with this two different energy sources. During several visits including, for example, a tour through a biogas plants for renewable materials, the visitors from the Baltics got highly competent information on the respective technologies and the daily production processes. Every presentation and company visit was followed by a detailed discussion between the German experts and their visitors. The delegates from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were particularly interested in precise areas of application and the profitability of the energy production facilities. The Baltic delegation benefited from the longtime experience and the broad knowledge of the German hosts. The direct contact between German and Baltic companies established a good basis for further cooperation.

The program ended with a visit to the leading sector fair 'Energy' in the framework of the Hannovermesse 2009. The visit of this largest industrial fair gave the Baltic delegation the opportunity to learn about the latest developments of products and innovations in the sector of renewable energies as well as making further individual business contacts, which were prearranged by the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce.
